Global Sales & Marketing Operations

Matthew Lang is Vice President of Global Sales & Marketing Operations. With annual turnover in excess of $10bn, he is responsible for:

  • Driving achievement of Global S&M objectives through data-driven performance monitoring, operational efficiency improvement and leadership development
  • Building sales operations for Enterprise (XiB) and Companion Products (CoPR) to sustainable, scalable levels
  • Enhancing global in-store excellence (ISX) and retail execution
  • Coordinating and aligning sales & marketing planning, strategy development and governance

Prior to this appointment, Matthew was the Corporate Vice President and Head of Southeast Asia & Oceania CU. In this role, Matthew was responsible for the Sony Mobile business in countries across Southeast Asia and Oceania.

Matthew joined Sony Mobile after a long and illustrious career with Sony Corporation, bringing a depth of experience in Sales and Marketing roles around the world. In the last twenty years he has lived and worked in Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Caucasus and Africa.

In his last role for Sony Corporation, Matthew was the Managing Director of the Sony South Africa Market Unit for four years. Initially responsible for achieving a 50 per cent growth in sales and establishing a clear lead in the LCD TV market for Sony, he went on to lead the successful hosting of Sony’s FIFA World Cup sponsorship.

From 2005 to 2007, Matthew was the Managing Director of Sony Nordic and oversaw sales and marketing operations in seven countries. Under his leadership, having restructured the organisation, the team achieved a return to profitability within two years whilst growing market share. He also held various management roles throughout his career in Sony, including Vice President of e-Commerce and CRM for Europe and Managing Director of Turkey.

Matthew holds a Certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance and a Masters degree in Production Engineering from the University of Cambridge. He is fluent in English, French and German and is married with two children.
